is a Non-Profit Foundation currently raising funds for the breast cancer prevention research of Dr. Brian Czerniecki, M.D., Ph.D..
Dr. Czerniecki is the Surgical Director of the Immunotherapy Program at the Abramson Cancer Center at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is researching methods of treating and preventing cancer through the body's immune system. We are raising funds to pay for the second clinical trial of his research.

I think that eventually prevention should be the primary focus. However, there must be hope for the daunting number of individuals who have already been diagnosed with the disease. So all are extremely important but I think the cure lies in prevention.
I wish there were more being done to research treatment and prevention of a recurrence in triple negative breast cancer. We are typically younger and have a worse prognosis than hormone receptor positive. The chance for a recurrence is 33% overall. The chance for a recurrence outside of the breast (meaning it will be less treatable at that stage)is higher. As with all cancer, it tends to come back more aggressively. And yet, the only option at this time is to "wait and see" which is unacceptable to me.

There needs to be somewhere (someone) for independent scientists with innovative ideas to get their ideas modestly funded, particularly in the area of cancer immunotherapy. This is nothing more than logical to me, as the community of researchers and investors must realize that innovation is going to be very important to improving treatment and making treatment accessible to everyone. We should only be limited by our imagination, not by funding.
